BRIDAL SHOWER POEMS

The best poem will be one that is personal and heartfelt. Why not try your hand at a verse or two to see what you can come up with? Maybe you could try writing it with a friend.

If writing poetry is not your thing then I hope you can find a poem amongst the selection below that will fit the bride's personality

Here are a few ideas for a poem to use at a wedding or bridal shower.

An Excerpt from I Ching

When two people are at one
in their innermost hearts,
they shatter even the strength of iron or bronze.
And when two people understand each other
in their inmost hearts,
their words are sweet and strong,
like the fragrance of orchids.

From This Day Forward

From this day forward,
You shall not walk alone.
His heart will be your shelter,
And his arms will be your home.

And here's a translation from some Chinese writing:-

I Want to be Your Friend Forever

wedding rings and hands holding each other following marriage
bouquet of flowers
sisters walking

I want to be your friend forever,
When the hills are all flat
and the rivers run dry,
when the trees blossom in winter
and the snow falls in summer.
when heaven and earth mix
not until then will I part from you.

~ Author unknown

and a bit of marriage advice from 1886:-

Let your love be stronger than your hate and anger.
Learn the wisdom of compromise,
for it is better to bend a little than to break.
Believe the best rather than the worst.
People have a way of living up or down
to your opinion of them.
Remember that true friendship
is the basis for any lasting relationship.
The person you choose to marry
is deserving of the courtesies
and kindnesses you bestow on your friends.
Please hand this down to your children and
your children's children.

This Apache Blessing makes a wonderful reading:-

May the sun bring you new energy by day,
May the moon softly restore you by night,
May the rain wash away your worries
And the breeze blow new strength into your being,
And all the days of your life may you walk
Gently through the world and know its beauty.

A Wife's Poem

He didn't like the casserole,
and he didn't like my cake.
He said my biscuits were too hard,
not like his mother used to make.
I didn't make the coffee right,
he didn't like my stew,
I didn't fold his pants,
the way his mother used to do.
I pondered for an answer.
I was looking for a clue.
Then I turned around
and smacked the shit out of him,
Like his mother used to do.
