APPRECIATION POEMS

Poems To Show How Grateful You Are

Sending an appreciation poem is an excellent way for you to show that you are grateful for someone's contribution in your life, and to join them in their anticipation of the future ahead. This could be a family member, teacher, neighbour, friend or someone in your extended family or church.

A person who feels appreciated will always do more than what is expected.

"Appreciation is a wonderful thing. It makes what is excellent in others belong to us as well." - Voltaire

Poems of Thanks

Thank You Note

Take a moment to give thanks to someone special either with a card, letter, flowers or a phone call.

Say thank you to a friend, neighbour or teacher.

The smile on my face doesn't mean my life is perfect. It means I appreciate what I have and what I have been blessed with. I choose to be happy.

Here are a few examples of appreciation poetry that you can use to thank someone for their kindness.

Thank You Poems and Words of Encouragement

There's a well known quote that says,

"A word of encouragement during a failure is worth more than an hour of praise after success"

and it's very true. Taking time to express our thanks to someone or to encourage them is always worth the effort.

Poem of Appreciation for a Friend

Beauty Of Our Friendship

Friendship is a Priceless Gift that cannot be bought or sold,
But its value is far greater than a mountain made of Gold.
For gold is cold and lifeless, it can neither see nor hear
And in the time of trouble it is powerless to cheer--
It has no ears to listen nor heart to understand,
It cannot bring you comfort or reach out a helping hand
So when you ask God for a gift
Be thankful if HE sends not diamonds, pearls or riches
But The Love of Real True Friends.
~ Helen Steiner Rice

You are a special friend to me,
I don't know if you know it:
So rarely do I get the
opportunity to show it.
So here's a token gesture,
one word from me to you;
It's simple, but effective
and the word is just...

THANK YOU ...

Such a simple word;
It's often underrated.
And yet, in truth,
It's always good
To feel appreciated.
So here's my chance to say it!
It's absolutely true....

Appreciation Poem for Parents

You have been there from the very start,
Took care of me, gave me your heart.
Thank you so much, for believing in me,
You gave me everything, the sky and the sea.

I have been blessed with parents so kind,
When I made mistakes, you didn't mind.
What I'm trying to really express,
Without you, I would have been less.

Thank you for teaching me how to live,
How to love others, and to forgive.
Thank you so much for being my light,
Because of you, my future is bright.

Appreciation Poem for a Teacher

Favorite Teacher

Thank you, favorite teacher
For acting like a friend

and taking time to show me,
lessons hard to comprehend.

Thank you for your caring
and lots of other stuff;

For all the things you did,
I can't thank you enough.

A Teacher's Appreciation Poem

Every day you greet your students with a smile upon your face.
Though paperwork the night before seemed like a gruelling race.

Money's not your motivation, it's the love for what you do.
You hear that special calling to which you always stay true.

Your students are your dedication, devotion is to them.
To you each child's unique and special, a beautiful little gem.

Some days are just demanding and frustration takes its course.
Then you see those little faces, their inspiration is your force.

Each day you're in your classroom reminds you why you're there.
Making differences in children's lives with whom your heart you share.

There's a special pride in teachers, and a love for what you do.
And appreciation's always shared between those little lives and you!

Christian Appreciation Poem

We give thanks unto the Lord
For your love and faithfulness
In all the little things you do
With a heart of thankfulness
We do so appreciate you
and cannot truly express
Just how much you mean to us,
For we are truly blessed.
- M.S. Lowndes

Appreciation Poetry

Some years ago a friend of mine gave me one of those small "Pass
It On" cards with the following words on it.  This stands on my
dressing table so that I can see it and be encouraged by it each
morning:-

A friend is one who knows who you are,
understands where you have been,
accepts who you have become
and still gently invites you to grow.

(I believe this may be a direct quote from Shakespeare)

Appreciating Our Parents: Back Home

If I had the power to turn back the clock,
Go back to that house at the end of the block
The house that was HOME when I was a kid,
I know that I'd love it more now than I did.

If I could be back there at my mother's knee,
And hear once again all the things she told me.
I'd listen as I never listened before,
For she knew so well just what life had in store.

And all the advice my dad used to give,
His voice I'll remember as long as I live;
But it didn't seem really important then;
What I'd give just to live it all over again.

And what I'd give for the chance I once had,
To do so much more for my mother and dad;
To give them more joy and a little less pain;
A little more sunshine -- a little less rain.

But the years roll on and we cannot go back,
Whether we were born in a mansion or in a shack;
But we can start right now -- in the hour that's here
To do something more for the ones we hold dear.

And since time in its flight is traveling so fast;
Let's not spend it regretting that which is past;
But let's make tomorrow a happier day
By doing our "good to others"--TODAY!

Who You Are

You are not your age,
Nor the size of clothes you wear,
You are not a weight,
Or the colour of your hair.
You are not your name,
Or the dimples in your cheeks,
You are all the books you read,
And all the words you speak,
You are your croaky morning voice,
And the smiles you try to hide,
You're the sweetness in your laughter,
And every tear you've cried,
You're the songs you sing so loudly,
When you know you're all alone,
You're the places that you've been to,
And the one that you call home,
You're the things that you believe in,
And the people that you love,
You're the photos in your bedroom,
And the future you dream of,
You're made of so much beauty,
But it seems that you forgot,
When you decided that you were defined,
By all the things you're not.

Thank You Poems

We often don't think it's important to take the time to let people know how we feel and how much we value them - just a simple card or phone call can make a huge difference and bring encouragement to their life.

You Did

You didn’t have to do all that you did
But you did
You didn’t have to give up so much time
But you did
You didn’t have to put yourself out like you did
But you did
You did when I didn’t expect you to
You did what no one else could
Thank you
For doing what you did
